Edit:This post is from about this time last year

I stole this photo out of Calvin Svihels report from this last weekend.

    For a 67″ fish, it’s…well…thickerer!

Comparied to the Croix/’sippy sturgeon…it’s huge!

If I would have a girth…I could get an estimate…What do you guys think?

    75….more?

    Sorry…got kinda excited!

According to the DNR table I have, an average-girthed 67″ LOTW sturgeon is 79 lbs and I would think that is much thicker than average. The range on 67″ fish is 61-118 lbs.

That fish was HEAVY!!! I also thought close to 80lbs as well. What a battle, I am sure glad I got to land it and get a photo!!
These sturgeon have so much power its unreal. One other thing is they don’t like trolling motors very much either! While chasing this fish, everytime we would turn the trolling motor on the fish would make a run! Which also made for a great battle on spinning tackle!!

    Its a nice fish!

I dont know if its as much thicker than average, but it wouldnt surprise me to see it was in the mid 80# range.

Either way, thats a huge fish!

Did you happen to measure it’s girth? We could pin it down pretty closely then.

    Screw it!!

If the only way to catch a near record fish up there is to be called Walleye Cal…I’m going for walleyes….with no rolls.

I reposted this from last year for you guys thinking of bringing walleye and bass gear…it can be done…but do you really want to risk a break off?
