The Beckmans are nice and heavy dupty, but the one I use I got at Mills. The handle is hexagon shaped and super easy and quick to extend. Blue might even be able to net fish with it.
February 28, 2007 at 4:23 am #542567Beckman!
Built like a rock, and great for multispecies.
Not to mention the warranty!
Just my opinion.February 28, 2007 at 5:17 am #542595I will be using the YoNet this year. These nets are great since they can be folded down small to keep out of the way. Then when you want to use it, it unfolds with 1 hand and has a brace that cradles on your forearm much like a metal detector. The net is also hook resistant and the handle is built tough
February 28, 2007 at 1:23 pm #542635A big beckman. Many people will comment on the oversized net in my boat but I could never understand the concept of a net that might be two small for a fish of a lifetime! If you have the room, telescopic handle and oversized.
February 28, 2007 at 2:45 pm #542667I use a frabil power lock. I wish it didn’t take up as much space but you need one.

I bought one new last year…(edit for miss wording) a few 45/50 pounders and it’s bent.
You’re right kev, the hoop is big, telescoping the handle out one handed was nice…that’s what drew me to it.
February 28, 2007 at 5:34 pm #542762I would sent that to Frabil and ask them how this could happen to their heavy duty nets. I had one blow out of my boat on the highway brand new two years ago. Bonus for someone.
February 28, 2007 at 5:35 pm #542763I really like the Beckman nets too especially the folding ones, but they also ask a pretty good sum for those

I believe its part # 5530 from Frabill.
– Teardrop shaped net 26″x30″
– Pow’R Lock Yoke
– 48″-96″ Telescoping Handle
– Tangle Free Nylon BagRetails for about $90
Quite a few cat guys I know have this net.
And you can bend the hoop if you try and lift a 30lb plus fish out of the water while holding the net handle, especially if its extended. Better to just grab the hoop itself and lift the fish straight up vertically. That technique places a ton less stress on the net.

Does it have a blue net? If so, that’s what I’ve got. Not the world’s greatest net, but I saved a little money on it so I could put the cash towards making a nice, long extension for it.
If you need to net a fish 12′ below you, I am your man. It comes in handy in some of the places I fish

Hanson? That’s how my net bent.
Your net doesn’t count! That net has landed more fish than the rest of the cat guys on this board put together. Dave’s saw some incredible use as well, then it disappeared.February 28, 2007 at 10:46 pm #542962RW I believe you might have a dot line. I have the same one from fleet farm it is around 10′ extended. I dont like the blue net though it is too flimsy.
Stopped into Moore’s bait a week or so ago and he has a new net in from Frabil it extends out to 16 feet! Perfect for a few metro shore spots! No more smashin the face against the fence to net a fish!
February 28, 2007 at 11:20 pm #542996The dot line was around 30$. I dont know how much Moore’s frabil was. We will have to force that info out of Bob!

Nope, that’s not it. Mine’s not flimsy and only came with a 4′ handle–I extended it myself.
March 1, 2007 at 12:17 am #543036Pulled some science stuff on that one huh? You should get down to Moore’s to check out that monster net he has! It goes from the one end of the store to the other…the long way!
March 1, 2007 at 7:52 pm #543422I cant remember the cost on those nets at Moores, dontquote me, but I think they will be around $45 give or take.
They are not the highest quality, but shouls work for a few years of hauling fish up 10’+ walls.
The net Hanson posted is the net many of us have/had. They are a excellent net. No net is going to last forever if impropelry supported while lifting 40# fish that like the thrash.

Moores Bait Net.
March 25, 2007 at 10:58 pm #553173Got to be hard driving down the road with that thing in the back.
March 26, 2007 at 2:40 am #553300I have a frabile power lock also but I wanted it for big sturgeon also and it doesn’t fit in the boat BUT I can use it for a hammock when I get tired out there!!!
March 26, 2007 at 1:43 pm #553381That would be a heck of a butterfly net for the allusive Pussycat Swallow tail.
Pop culture quiz. Where did they try catching the allusive Pussycat Swallow tail?
The correct answer wins a whole fishing season free from Pugs presence. Yes, I just spoke of myself in the third person.
March 26, 2007 at 2:15 pm #553397If your refering to the Cetridney Lexipus, it’s only known to inhabit one island….
