Jesse Krook and I headed South of Everts for a change. I spied a set of 5 good looking snags with Erick Anderson earlier in the day.

We had one run which I’m going to bet was a walleye in about 4 feet of water and two channel cats on Sudden Impact Fiber Bait. The one we put on the scale was 7.8 pounds and the first one wasn’t too much smaller.

Beautiful night with the stars shining brightly. Ahh it felt good to have a bullhead spine stick me again alone with the Ker-PLOP of the bullhead and sinker hitting the water.

I wired too many electronics to one circuit and we lost the spotlight and HDS on the way home through the back channel. Made for a slow ride and only hit one log that put Jesse on red alert the rest of the way back to the resort. Jesse and I don’t care for things that go bump in the night.

It’s great to be back on the water….and now for the catchin’!!

73 degree water on the St Croix. You know the flatheads are hunting. Just got to figure out this high water and you could put some nice flats in the boat.

Sunday we had a whisker over 65 for the first time Steve. Yesterday and today we’re at 68.

I’m feeling good about this weekend.

I’m fishless on the croix so far tonight but feels good with a few rods with bullies out. Temp is at 70 north of William O’Brien.

Sounds like a good opportunity for the radar? How do you like it?

Since the radar is in the HDS…it was dead too.

Since then I’ve wired the HDS/marine radio/CD Player/ to one battery and the Spotlight and cell phone charger to another battery.

Ran everything from 5 to 8:30 last night without any hickups.

As far as the radar goes, it’s a very useful tool for me at night. Clearly see the navigational markers relating to the boat. Still…there’s the slightly below surface logs to deal with.

When Jesse and I were coming back in the WI back channel, a large object appeared on the radar right in the middle of the channel. Neither of us recalled seeing a boat anchor there on the way down stream. It was in the area of the sand bar, and the thought of a boat being stuck there entered our minds.

It was the low flying aircraft ball on the power line.

    Still learning.

Now you can always navigate home by the light of a cell phone lol!

I wish Jesse would have thought of that the other night!

Good luck tonight! I hope to land a few monsters this weekend. Smaller treble hooks & smaller bait seem to be what have worked. Many Many runs, only 1 fish landed. 12#’s. They are moving SLOW.
