A friend and I went out on the St Croix Saturday night in pursuit of the kitty. Start out with the conditions at Beanie’s launch. Water is about 3 feet from the house and bait shop. Had to back the van in so far that the breather vent for the rear differential was almost underwater. I was able to turn my 16 ft Starcaft around in the parking lot. Picked my buddy up from the rocks in front of the bait shop with 12FOT showing on the 998. We headed north the the railroad bridge and hunkered down for an hour or two with only one fish so we moved downstream a ways to the next spot. Fishing with crawlers, cut bullhead and liver we picked up 6 fish in about 3hrs with countless misses. We could not keep the Sturgeon off, and they even hit the liver. Biggest was 42 and rest were in the 24-35 inch. We did manage 1 channel cat that was good eater size. The night was calm, moon was out and not a boat in sight….was a good night.
