Winkelman ~ Rainy River Sturgeon Episode

I DVR a lot of shows and delete most of them after seeing the description. However, this one caught my eye. It’s well done giving you a little history and showing how far the fishery has come.

Makes you wonder. In 10-20 years what will be the averages and top end fish.

By the way, they catch a white (lake) sturgeon.

Not a fan of the Babe either but I caught the show. The other people that gave the history were good, informative. I will be there in a month to try to catch a few walleye and maybe my first Lake Sturgeon. Weather permitting ~

I thought it was a great show. I’m glad they put in the history of the fishery and all of the handling tips.

I am however pretty po’d at the guide. He seemed to proud to let a little sturgeon slime touch is precious carpet. What would he do about flathead poop?

Although….I do shake my head at some of the things these “experts” say sometimes….I guess a guy has to take it for what it’s worth…

I should have explained it instead of the taken a shortcut. The coloring of the fish was very light, almost like an albino.

I pretty much stopped watching after seeing the depthmaster reels with light rods…Them reels don’t have enough drag for catching large walleyes let alone sturgeon. Babe is a dork.

Again, I didn’t watch it for the fishing. They didn’t catch anything that big. I watched it for the history lesson and to hear what the DNR guy had to say.

Nothing like using a $40 dollar reel on a $400 rod. Whatever works I guess but on TV?
