Couple weeks ago I got into a fight with a flathead. Yeah, I won the war, but not before she left her mark.

I’ve always be cautious with the little guys because when they flop their top sandpaper teeth will take off a little skin.

I’ve never seen a larger fish bite down then try to twist off like a channel cat.

Found one tooth stuck in my skin. Don’t know what I was thinking when I tossed it on the ground and walked away. Should have kept that!

I got stitches from a real fish. Not just a little scratch from a catfish. No whining.

I would have bit it back before letting it go.

At my last Catfish Tournament, I got bit twice by Channel Cats. They usually bite down but not too hard. These two drew blood. The first was a 3 pounder I ‘lipped’ and then went to thow it back, just as I ‘threw it, it bit down and stayed on my thumb…ouch!

The second was at wieghin. It was an 8 pounder and bit down really hard as I was posing for pictures. That one drew alot of blood. Didn’t even twist, just bit down. Felt like a vise with 50 grit sandpaper on the jaws…ouch again.

I’m glad Bullheads don’t get to be 8 pounders. A guy could lose a thumb to one of them.

Gotta be careful with those bites. Wash the ‘wound’ with clean water to remove the slime. That stuff will get you an infection.

I feel for you Brian. That looks painful.

I got sliced open by a barracuda in Belize a few years ago. There’s no way I was going to the witch doctor on the island, so I just fixed it myself.

That is exactly why I always wear gloves now. I’ll take the “Wussy” names I’ll get called. It really doesn’t hurt so good.

No doubt! I bet if they did a test for bite force in relation to body weight, a bullhead would win far and away. It would be very interesting to see the results.

As for a cat rash, who doesn’t like having a badge of courage to mark them. Its gets you by until the next trip.

    I don’t believe it.

I would be willing to bet that Mrs BK, klonked him on the back of the hand while he was reaching for the Spamm.

    Its spelled clonk

Maybe the next time I get a cat scratch I’ll rub some slime on my hands, because it seems like catch scratches do not heal very fast.
