Got the boat all shrink wrapped and tucked away for the season. I was putting away all my stuff and was looking at some of the photos. Considering we had such high water for the 1st half of the season I had a good year. I think I have broke the code for flatheads on the big water – I’m anxious to start after them right after ice out. I’m convinced now that they migrate and I’m going to work the big water and try and follow them as they move to spawning sites. Ended the season with my first ever flathead double – got two on fishing solo and that was a goat rope getting them both into the boat. They weren’t big but they were fun.

See you cat guys on the water next spring! Dream big fish over the winter!!

Sounds like you need to come south. My wife is from southern Oklahoma and she got some cousins that have been telling me to come down there and go noodling with them. I tole them they have to come north with me and do some walleye and pike fishing with me before they will ever catch me sticking my hands in some hole. lol…. My luck is get bit by a water maccacine. They get some big flatties down there though

I’m still at it Steve. Just went last night. Got about a dozen channel cats and 2 flat heads…all in the 4-7 pound range. Only fished one spot. Anchored up in a deep channel. Wind was pretty strong but temps were barable.

I plan to keep fishing them until ice up, then I’ll still fish the Miss. for walleyes and saugers til it’s un-navigable.

I suppose having a pontoon is a little different though. I can understand putting it away a little earlier. Noe quite as easy to pull down the road and put in the water.

I guess I’ll still be catching while you’re dreaming. Pleasant dreams.

Hard to imagine the season is winding down. Look forward to some early spring flathead pictures from you steve. Hope you’ve got them dialed in. I will probably make it over to the croix at least 1 more time for some channel cats, maybe next weekend.

I just got back from a week of fishing in Sanibel, Florida and when I left to go there it was 70 degrees here. I get back at 11pm and it is 29. BRRRR! But now that just means it is time to get ready for the holidays back home in Annandale and go catch cats through the ice on the Horseshoe Chain!
