Finally got out

I made the 6 hr drive home from working in Iowa Friday morning to finally get out and do some sturgeon fishing and camping with a friend of mine. Friday night was tough fishing with a large amount of moss and leafs fouling lines within minutes. Saturday morning started out with a few fish from the campsite while cooking breakfast. After dodging rain most of the day we finally headed out in the boat and continued to catch fish. Sunday morning and afternoon was a lot of the same. I kept my perfect streak of taking cherries from sturgeon virgins. Burgers,chilli dogs,steak fajitas,and breakfast burritos all over the fire. It wasn’t my best outing but I know she enjoyed spending her birthday on the water out fishing me Saturday and Sunday.

This will be my shortest sturgeon season since getting bite by the bug 4 years ago. Almost 800 miles a weekend round trip to go fishing is tough to do. Looks like I’ll be racking up the miles the next few weeks.
