Twice This Year

I might have to take up deer hunting this fall.

Most of us have seen deer swimming across a lake or river. Happens.

This year, I was out with Kerry Harvey when I moved to the front of the boat to get some bait and thought I saw a beaver within feet of the anchor rope. Turned out to be a deer!

Both of us commented that was the closest deer we’ve encountered while fishing.

Remember, this is the cat forum. We are anchored and it’s dark out.

Last night I notice a log heading my way. I was looking to ensure it would clear my line that was in the water when the logs head turned! I could have patted it on the head as it swam by the side of the boat.

Twice this year and hasn’t happened before in over 8 years (being that close to the boat).

Sure hope I don’t see any more “skunks” either.

I sure hope that boat has a good bumper in case you run into one. Did you have an encounter with a skunk? Makes my eyes water thinking about it.

We came across this Deer taking a break 4th of July weekend. She stopped in to rest or get away from the boats. A short time later she scaled a rock wall like a mountain goat and was gone.

I now understand. I thought something was smelly on this post. BK, I guess you better get me in the boat for catching instead of skunking. I’ll change your luck.

They will kick in with the water dropping and the flow slowing down.

Now it’s just spending the right time in the right spots.

It’s certainly not like last week when I canceled three trips because of the high water.

Just think of the income tax you saved yourself from paying by cancelling those trips!

    That’s what I did do…swallowed a lot of beer.

Thanks for that glimmer of hope Brian.

Thats where I fish Wisk when the waters high, I’ve found over the years that it almost 99% always works, a foot too 3 feet and their almost always in there instead of in the high fast water.
