Thinking about throwing out some dipbait this weekend with the high water flowing like it is on my favorite small river. I realize my odds of catching a catfish are terrible while sitting on the couch, but you think it’ll be worth it? And, what’s the coolest temp you’ve found early season channels biting??

I have a video of a channel taking Sudden Impact in something around 38 degrees. They bite all winter so there’s no reason to think they won’t now.

Just need to be in the right place for them to bite…and you are so correct, the couch won’t cut it!

Sometimes it helps to keep the bait off the bottom in the cooler temps.

My thoughts are that this weekend is going to be fantastic for channels. Overnight low temps are all above freezing after tonight, and temps in the 50s, 60s, and 70s will warm up the small rivers quick.

Since it is a late spring, you gotta think the channels are gearing up for a feeding frenzy.

That being said, I’ll be out on Saturday

Less is more when using cut bait or stink bait in cold water.

Current seams are always the best be although behind obstructions could be a tie.

Check out areas that would warm up faster then the rest of the river, more so if there’s faster water next to it.

    Good luck!
