… and once again, the sturgeon stole the show.

Got up to the Rainy around 1 on Wednesday and hit it hard fishing walleyes for the rest of the day. Drove all the way to the ice, did some ice breaking withe the Crestliner, caught a total of 9 walleyes. Each day thereafter was progressively worse. That means we spent a lot time sturgeon fishing.

We did very well on a very windy and cold Thursday. I headed to a spot I knew would be as far out of the wind as we could get. Got some really nice bruisers that were all very very fat. Took one photo next to my boot to show the girth.

We got a 60″, 64″ and a very chunky 54″ in the span of about 45 minutes. The crowd up there was absolutely insane and probably had something to do with the poor fishing.

Thanks for the report. That sounds like a lot of fun (except for the wind).

I wouldn’t call that “poor fishing”

That would have been a blast if it were me catching those sturgeons.

Like any good fisherman you had ‘poor fishing’ for the walleyes, but then switched to those dino fish and seemed to pay off with those monsters!
