Schafer Fish Market out of Fulton was out of Smoked Paddlefish, but they did have Smoked Asian Carp and Smoked Shovelnose Sturgeon.

The Sturgeon was pretty darn good and I would order it again sometime down the road.

The Asian Carp however, well it reminded me of smoked carp which I’m not a fan of. It was OK, and I’m eating it but I won’t be ordering it again.

They’ll be samples of Smoked Asian Carp at Everts this Saturday. Give it a taste.

If you put enough tabasco on something it can taste good

Funny, that’s what Steve at Everts suggested about the Asian Carp.

I’d be interested in tasting just about all the smoked fish that place offers. I love smoked fish!

Too bad I can’t make it down to Evert’s this weekend to give it a shot

Pound for pound, I’m going to bet it was less expensive then going out for crappies.

Depends on your fish catching skills

Then again, to most of you whisker lovers panfish are bait not food.

Wow, it’s smoked with skin on? That probably gave it a stronger smell? Looks good though.
They are sold out of the carp

    Really? Sold out?

Did you call or just check the web. When I talked to Angie she was saying the count on the website wasn’t too accurate.

Also, the Asian Carp is MUCH better tasting then the Common Carp. Asian’s have bones in the “back strap”. Insist on the Asian carp even if they have to break it open to check.

I actually liked it better then the sturgeon…and I liked the sturgeon!
