April 1 or there abouts was always the opening of the (channel) cat season for open water. Is it going to be open this year?

Few more afternoons like yesterdays and I’ll be able to put the boat wiring back together and start chasing the whiskered wonders on P-4.

    It’s getting close!

I think all I have left besides the boat wiring is checking the bait cooler in the boat and this years guide insurance in late April.

I think the ticket is having the temp stay above freezing over night, which is in the forecast for later this week and all of next week.

    Let’s get ready!

I sure hope so. I’ve had to resort to walleye fishing on the Mississippi. My catfish are still encased in ice in Lake Mendota. I have to say that the walleye is good to eat though.

I wonder if it is open or close to it. I’d go up Saturday or Friday for a couple hours if it was.

Hey Mike. My buddy works all over that area, so I asked him and he said still lots of snow on the shore, but the spillway seems to be open.

No, you need to get the bait to the rocks! The rocks I say!

I’d like to get a cheap 10’+ rod just for Mill Ruins in the spring.

Anyone know the difference between a casting and spinning rod? I need some help. (Inside joke)

    I think I remember?

However I think my brain misinformed me of the difference between winter and spring?

I had thought of it, but the weather didnt support the thought and Easter fell at a bad spot.. BUT .. I do plan to do something in a couple weeks somewhere, just havent had a chance to make the final plan yet

I think you were there with Brian and I had a couple people. I left to get something to eat and when I got back I took the ribbing for my miss matched gear.
