It is winter time and most of my cat fishing is done watching Youtube videos. I am always looking for new ideas and tricks for chasing cats. I watched one of DTRO’s videos and noticed he was using chicken liver for getting ice cats. Not long after that I watched this video from Steve Douglas on his secret method for keeping chicken livers on his hook. Everybody needs another bait option and chicken livers could be the go to bait at times. In this video he uses 1 inch tubular elastic mesh for holding the chicken livers on the hook. I’ve found several web sites that sell the tubular elastic mesh bandages – I plan on ordering some for some early season channel cat fishing.

    Here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaOX9j6JG….eemVzA&index=16

This is the website he used for ordering up tubular elastic mesh bandages: http://www.woundcareshop.com/SurgilastGL701.aspx

First off every catfishermen here on the site should read this bit of info. Excellent tip Steve, one of the best information tips I’ve seen in awhile. The UTube video didn’t open for me but the second one did to the site where you can buy this mesh.

If the visitors look down twards the bottom of the advertisement theres a couple video links on how to make them and a guy catching and explaining what the mesh does, watch them both. These are going to be in my tackle box come spring. You could also put cutbait, nightcrawlers, crawdads etc in these mesh covers to keep them on longer. All those types of bait will definately last longer. Nice Video Steve and a go to for me. Excellent tip and one I’ll probably use now until I quit fishing catfish, god forbid. Awhole lot better then a ladys nylon stocking like whats been used in the past.

I have used squares of cheesecloth and squares of pantyhose. Both worked well.

Somebody quick give Randy back his panties. He probably needs the control top to stay active.
