Will there be a Sturgeon Excursion for 2013? If so, any idea on what the dates will be?

I spoke with Coleen yesterday and nailed down the dates. Lodging is again $28.50 per person per night.
April 18th thru the 21st 2013.
That’s all the info she had for me.
The nephew contacts me yesterday about going. Nothing like scrambling at the last minute. And I did email him about a month ago!
will be going up next week on thursday!! have a group of 16 going!!!! looking forward to another fun year. looks like we will trailering to clementson/frontier/vidas.

I sent him a FB pm yesterday, glad to see you two have decided to hammer down some details. You might be able to scrounge a cabin, but I’m pretty sure you two missed the signup deadline for the medals
Just remember Jarrett, nothing is guaranteed until I show up at the launch. I guess I don’t have to remind Jarrett or BK.
So far Ballards and Wheelers have responded with openings. Anyone have opinions?
Also, where can I get a flat of crawlers. Is 1 flat enough for 2 Friday-Sunday?
A half of flat should be more then enough pug. Between 3 of us we’ve barely used a half for 4 days everytime.

Pug, I highly recommend River Bend. Paul, the owner, is a great guy and will do what he can to get you on some fish. Plus he has a guide there that’s been fishing sturgeon up there for what seems like his whole life.
So is there going to be a sturgeon x-cursion….or
is there not going to be a sturgeon x-cursion
a simple mind would like to know
Nothing is organized because the gran poop-bah isn’t going this year. We’ll be up the weekend of the 25th.

When I say that I am not faulting BK. He tried to organize it and I just wanted to call him poop-bah.
PUG-Sturgeon harvest opens 4/24, just sayin, might want to pick up a tag this year.
I’ll be up there Thursday evening and staying till Monday! We are staying at Slims this year. Any GTG on Fri or Sat night????

Just bar hop the resorts until you find the guy face down at the bar. Turn me over and say hey!
We can let this thread simmer for another week and see if any more people are going and then maybe figure something out for an IDO meet and greet.

Still no word, I’ll have to call this am. Was there any reports of panfish coming in? If they are popping I wouldn’t mind spending an hour or two to load up for a fish fry up there.
Being border waters, are any gamefish open at the end of the month?
Edit: Looks like pike are continuous? Might have to try an hour or so just to see if the bite is hot.
Good luck up there, looking forward to hearing what’s happening up there

Have never found any panfish up there while sturgeon fishing . On warm years you can get into some bullheads. Would bet they are fantastic eating out of that cold water. The church always seemed to be a hot spot for them. Got a feeling that will still be froze for a while.
For pike just cast the shorelines. We seem to catch plenty of them with plastics trying for walleyes. Most are hammer handles but a few are big enough for filleting.
Since Im guessing you guys will be fishing up river this year there is always some suckers to cook up. Other than bones I would bet there are pretty good to. Throw them on the grill skin on with some BBQ sauce or rub.
I’ll take bullhead, pike or sucker. Anything fresh from the lake to make it feel like a true adventure. Even if the fish is a side dish to some ribeye.
There is even some chance for pout but the ones we have ever caught are small. Very small. Would throw them all back for some pout.
I’ll be up there Friday – Monday to pop the sturgeon virgin cherry. Staying at Wigwam.
I’ll be up there this Wed night through the following Tuesday. Gonna be a little different year, but I guess every year is a little different. We dialed them in big time last year with spring coming a month early. This year spring is a few weeks behind the norm but I’m confident there’s fish awaiting to be caught. See you all up there.
