The red River was good though May, slowed down in June due to spawn and high water. But now is starting up again. Water temp near 80 degrees. Water levels around 17 to 18 feet in the F/M area been getting a few nice fish on cut gold eye. Many fish caught. From what I’ve seen this week end the bite may be better at night for now. Will have to try later in the day in to the dark.

Sweet … I’m itching to get back to the red. Do you see venture north? Big fish territory the further downriver you travel.

Wow … Pre spawn female still?!?

Might be, or just well fed. Most of the males we caught still had the big swollen bumps on their heads, like they were either spawning or had just finished.

Weds and Thurs were a tough bite. Friday it was like a switch flipped and we caught 3 times the fish as the previous 2 days.

16 July 2013, St Croix, 34″ X 19″, hit a live bullhead. Must have just finished spawning, he was pretty beat up.

Red River F/M area, night bite is best right now for bank fishermen, cut gold eye, the water levels still up, bait placed in the current ares works just fine. the water temps near 80 degrees.
