Since the ice guys are doing it, why shouldn’t we?!

What is on everyone’s list of wants/needs for the off season?

    For me:

    New net, hopefully a Hibernet
Abu 7000 or another new baitcaster

    What’s on your list?

My medium heavy ugly sticks are going on 8 or 9 years old and they need some new eyelets. I’ve also had so many big fish that my reels are falling apart so I could use half a dozen new spinning reels. I am tired of my basshole friend switching the handles on my spinning reels so I think I might get a couple bait caster ugly sticks for him. Seems the only thing he can do with his left hand is service his operating rod. I had a bunch of tangles last year so I could use a thousand yards of hi vis power pro in 20lb test. Some nice J hooks from the Team Catfish. A gross of splashbright bobbers, A newer boat, and a newer truck to pull it with, and a bigger garage to put them all in would be great. I’d also like a few of my Minnesota friends to stop making excuses and come down to see how we do things down town… Doug, Steve, and Brian come to mind.

    Now we’re cooking with gas!!

Two Ray o Vac head lamps

Two more Team Catfish I-Cat Rods

Two spools of Tug O War Electric Lime Mono

New BIG tub of Secret 7 stink bait

But most of all, I would like to see winter flathead protection on all MN waters including the border waters.

All I want for Christmas is the ability to collect bait with a cast net. My suggestion would be to allow anglers to have the net in their possession while gathering bait ONLY, otherwise it must be at home.

As an added wish, I would like more time in the summer to go to other waters and fish.

With open invites for Brown Trout fishing on Lake Michigan and Sumo Channel Cat fishing with Kev, all I need is the time.

While fishing p4 last Saturday we saw a boat and one of the guys had a headlamp that lit up the shoreline, anybody know which lamp has that kind of power?

I think that was probably pug’s borg light. I use a spot light when I want to see the shore. There is such a thing as too much light.

I just got the Abu reel I have been wanting. It was brand new and at a pawn shop for $20. I’m sure they thought it was busted because when you cranked the handle the spool didn’t move. It was spooled with braid and I figured it was never backed and the braid was just slipping on the spool. Took it home and was right!

As far as Christmas, I too would just like more time on the water. My daughter will be 4 this spring and wants to go catfishing again too. She just reminded me yesterday that she caught two catfish this year when we went out.

Is it safe over there? I read in one of my school book we would fall off the end of the earth if we boated up the MN?

That’s extremely rare. You can also disregard the maps that still read ‘Here there be tygers’

I want to see the face of another guy that hasn’t felt the power of a 40+ flathead for the first time.
    Other than that I’m golden.

You already belong to the 40+plus club.I think your next mark is 60+ if my old memory serves me right.
I would not mind being there for that.I would be willing to do the “No net needed ” method for her.

Can non-cat guys play? I would (don’t make fun of me ) like to get down to Everts and get a guided trip and see what all the fuss is about these fish. If I sell the place up North I will have the time to do it and I know just the guy to take me!
