Hi all. Just signed up tonight. Looks like there are alot of great people on catfish fourm. Looking foward to meeting you all in the spring. I have no clue what im doing when it comes to fishing but when my son age 7 and I are on the boat its hard to have a bad day even without landing a fish. Always open to pointers and suggestions. Thanks

    Hi Flathead,

WELCOME to IDO. Great site, know you will really enjoy it.

    There is a Catfish forum,

a guy who goes by BrianK usually has something to say TO or ABOUT just about everything on here; including Catfish.

If you can get him to be serious, I’d listen to his Catfish lore.

    Good Luck,

    and

    again,

    Welcome,

    Jack

Hey, welcome to IDO! Lots of guys to help you out here. Where are you planning to do most of your fishing? We have river guys and lake guys here for both flats and channels.

Like previous posts said, go through archived posts and you’ll find tons of info.

    Welcome to IDO Mr. Fever!

Might not want to wait until spring (at least for channels).

Depending on your location, there’s a good channel cat bite going on right now on the Mississippi and they bite all year.

We have the Horseshoe chain of lakes that guys fish channels for on ice that fairly popular and Lake Pepin as well.

Lots of reading here…and always feel free to ask questions. Because there’s a wide variety of cat anglers that fish different areas you’ll find a wide variety of answers some conflicting with others, but all good answers for the area and type of fishing they do.

You’ll need to sort out what’s going to work the best for you in your area.

Hey neighbor! I live in Fridley, so I fish the north metro quite a bit. If you want flats, you’re going to have to get yourself below St. Anthony Falls. If you want channels and don’t want to drive too far to launch, Boom Island is a fantastic facility, and Camden is servicable as well.

Right now, I would suggest fishing cutbait for channels, but stink bait and even crawlers would work as well. There are a few IDO cat regulars in your area, including myself, that would probably be willing to show you the ropes.

Right on. Im game anytime. Camden is close but not sure how safe that is to leave your truck there. But I would love to meet up and try some fishing. I cant stop thinking about it and wanna get out soon. 763-221-8867 if you want to call.
