St. Croix river is where its at. As far as your shad question, I have no idea where to get it.

From the Taylor Falls Dam to the confluence of the Mississippi River, the seasons open until 10/15.

Lower Wisconsin River starting this weekend. You need to buy a tag to fish for them (otherwise their supposed to be off limits). You will also be combat fishing with quite a few “non-native” folks from Chicago.

    Quote:

Anglers who do plan to harvest a sturgeon this season must purchase a harvest tag before they fish. The sturgeon harvest tag was implemented for the first time in the 2006 hook and line season. All revenues from the harvest tag sales go directly to projects dedicated to the improvement of sturgeon populations and habitats and therefore, better fishing opportunities. No tag is needed if anglers are catch and release fishing only

Buy a tag to help the fishery (Only $5.00), but for catch and release, no tag is needed per the WDNR website.

I hope this isn’t stealing this post, but with the extremely warm temps we’ve been having, what effect will this have on the bite this weekend? Other than dodging tuna boats?

In years past, I’ve found the colder it gets, the better. But hey, those fish have to eat, so where are they eating this weekend (note not gps location, but depth, structure, etc)?
