I didn’t even know there was any bluecats from around this area. I went to a friends house this morning, George an old boy I know and fish with sometimes, and he showed me this picture that a neighbor had sent him. I know the guy who sent him this picture and he said it was taken from a creek up by Okaboji lake here in Iowa. Thats all I know and have been told, but George says it real and was sent to him via. Kevin who is a civil engineer and his neighbor. If it would have come from anyone else I would have to take it as is but I know both of these guys very well. What do you guys think.

Can anyone identify the building in the background or the boat ramp, is it from Okaboji or the area? You know how pictures get passed around to excite people.

I don’t know where that photo was taken, but the first guy on the left looks like Mr. Special.

I highly doubt it was from Iowa, it would have beat the Iowa rod/reel record by 25lbs and would be all over the news and DNR’s website.

jeez that’s not even close to “okaboji”
That’s taken at the landing in Sioux City, the building in the background is the Hilton Garden Inn with Bev’s on the river. Big Sioux river isn’t really a “creek” you will have to dodge jumping silver asian carp when you turn in there off the Missouri. They were right off the State Park property line. There has always been blues caught around that size. Call BK he will guide you.

oh yeah the fish is a SD record, and the Big Sioux keeps us Iowans out of South Dakota, it is the state line.

Thanks Chomps for clearing this up, now I have to tell George about this tall tale and let him know where it really came from. I didn’t think there were any bluecats that size or any size as a matter of fact in Iowa.

Oh im sure there are a few in Iowa lakes and interior rivers, from bucket biologists and accidental stocking. But I highly doubt anything even remotely close to this size.
