RRR lucks into a 50 and now all the walleye guys are getting into the act.

I received a number of pm’s this morning from a certain Redneck Ido member asking all sorts of questions about fishing cats for this Thursday/Friday.

Really guys…catfish taste terrible, don’t fight and are the lowest possible fish you could fish for.

Your credit score will drop and have less friends…

Stick to walleye and stay among the elite!!

BK, you might be getting a PM from a lowly panfish guy here pretty quick

I have been getting attacked by a few of my cousins about catching BIG fish…channels might be the way to go

I think you have been sniffing too much stinkbait again BK I was catfishing with stinkbait back in the day when you were sporting leisure suits I have no friends and my credit is shot so I guess I fit in with you catfishing guys anyway I do have one serious catfishing question though—-back in the day (I think the late 60’s) my uncle and cousin were the first ones to bring stink bait to southern Illinois—at least Crab Orchard lake. The brand was Zip and it was out of Iowa. Does anyone know if that brand is in existence today or if it morphed into one of the big names on the market. We caught a ton of cats on it and kept it to ourselves for a year or so until one of the relatives left an empty container at the lake. Soon after it was everywhere and the bite was never the same. One funny story—one of my uncles order of Zip got damaged in transit and the local post office called him on a sunday to come down and pick it up

I’ve never heard of Zip. I’ve been chasing cats for over 20 years. I like Sonny’s blood for lake fishing.

Kev, Zip is the illegal stuff Redneck took in the 80’s…in his light blue disco suit.

Ol’ Pete never heard of Zip either.

BTW two more emails from dedicated walleye guys over lunch. I’m thinking Pool 4 is going to look like March with all the cat fishermen wannabies.

Zip was the name of the papers you used when doing that rolling thing, ya know?
Yeah, I remember Zip. We sold it in the bait shop for awhile. Don’t recall where it came from though.
I guess there’s parts of the 60’s we tend to forget easier than others. Now what did I do with that clip?

I hope you don’t mind company… walleye guys tend to fish in tight clusters….Your spot on the river is going to look Like a Mille Lacs mud flat.

    What color is your boat?

    Herb, wasn’t it Zig Zag?

Not that I would know, we used them for rolling pipe tobacco when I was 12.

Brian reading your thread, are you ok? I mean really, you need to go to the catfish doctor and check your health. Maybe a night on the river would be better medicine.

    Simple Observation,

The beast we call a flathead, is simply caught by placing your hands in his mouth, and then dragging it out of his hiding spot buy his front lips ?

Anyone tried this with a 10lbs walleye?

Well, besides getting poked in the fingers, I find going to the closet to get a rag much easier.

I think I’m gonna move to Red Wing since everyone keeps having parties down there without me.

Seriously… it sounds like a blast. There’s already a fire pit on the sand bar, we very nearly beached the boat and fired it back up on Tues. So, seriously… enjoy yourselves and shed a quick tear for those of us who want to be there and are trapped by Real Life far, far away.
