why old guys shouldn’t try to land flatheads.
Just get into my camper at Everts and notice I missed a call. Listening to vm, it was River Rat Randy sounding all serious. (This is NOT normal and I was concerned!)
His message went on to say that he’s hooked into a flat and they are both coming towards the resort with the cat leading the way!
I tried calling him back but there wasn’t any answer. When I opened the camper door, I could see his boat heading the resorts way, so I grabbed my camera to meet him at the dock.
The guy was freaking giddy! Last time I saw him this happy was when he pulled the trigger on 10 pounds of tannerite!
Randy! I said. Settle down and catch your breath so we can get a picture. He started mumbling something about “jig, 1/2 crawler, 8 pound test, big, real big”. RANDY are you ok??
All I could make out of his rambling was…
“jig, 1/2 crawler, 8 pound test, big, real big” and something that sounded like “azz kicking”.
Randy! Hey Randy!! Stop staring at the water!! We need to take a picture! The mumbling turned to a very loud and audible…”GLOVE! I GOT GLOVE!”
I wasn’t getting very far with him in this daze so after a couple slaps in the face he came around.
Just a hair over 50 pounds but she just finish dropping her eggs so who knows what she would have weighed while she was carrying them!
Nice Job RRR!
Had she not twisted as you were lowering her into the water I would have had a chance for a better release shot…but this one isn’t too bad! LOL!
