How many of you have seen your PB surface before your eyes then lose it because she wasn’t hooked good. I heard my clicker go off and tried to bring her in..she surface for seconds as I tried to grab her she came off.. I would say 8lbs..channel cat.
Yes..I’m still haunted and will never forget that spot.

But I was able to bring home some fish for next weeks dinner.

What kind of bait comes in a green bottle?

Oh yes, this year alone I have had a couple big fish turn into ghosts and have seen a buddy lose what would have to have been a PB channel cat from the bend it was putting into his St. Croix rod.

They haunt you forever, but then you boat past that spot again and say “remember that big one I had one here that one time?”. Then you can always spare a few minutes to stop at that spot

Those particular green bottles are used to store skunk bait.

I remember more the fish I’ve lost than the ones I’ve caught. Always that factor of not knowing how big it was coming into play. You might want to take a trip. If 8 is your best, I’ve put maybe a hundred fish in the boat this summer so far and only 3 or 4 have been below 8.

Curse you and your magical channel cat lake all the way across the barren wastes of Wisconsin!

But dude, we have the Queen of Catfish right next door… 5 minutes from the house. Granted I’m in Brooklyn Center, but Fridley isn’t that far.

We just need to spend more time on the water, that’s all.

That is a first. I’ve never been cursed before. I thought I was just a superior angler. Maybe I’m just average and the lake is superior.

    Doug,

Your invitation stands. If you hit the road at noon you’d be here by 4:30. Half hour to get settled and get some bait. First fish on board by 6:00.
