Good Ol’ Millerman finally got his mind off of Tennis.

She came to the surface once to show she was in the high 50’s if not the 60’s when the hook pulled out.

Tim’s first sturgeon and it got away.

    That’s the spirit, dude!

I have made arrangements to go to and/or ended up having to skip the last *3* sturgeon excursions. It sucks. But I am die-hard that I am going to make this one… come hell or high water.

You and I have something in common though: BK was there for the first laker I ever caught, too! After the fish hooked up, our conversation went something like this:

ME: Dude, I dunno what this is, but I can’t get it off the bottom.
    BK: That’s because it’s not a fish.
ME: What? It is too a fish.
BK: Nope. It’s probably someone’s old anchor rope. Or a log.
ME: No, trust me, it’s a fish.
BK: Seriously. Let me cut the line for you.
ME: Hell no! Until anchors or logs start giving headshakes, this is a fish.
BK: I tell you, it’s not a fish.
ME: Ooh, it just came up off the bottom…
BK: Well, lookie there, it’s a fish! Aren’t you glad you didn’t cut the line?

It was a 36″ anchor rope with scutes, gills, barbels and a shark-like tail. Till I picked up my big flattie the following summer it was my PB fish of all time.

I still can’t let him live that down… he spent the rest of the trip going “That’s never happened to me before.”

All in good fun… that night was a blast and made for more than a few memories. I bought a boat and started fishing the river, at least in part, because of that night. And I had several PB records broken that night, in terms of fish caught on a single trip, size of my PB channel and size of my PB fish overall.

But still, I just can’t let BK get away with too much without some sort of counter-tease.
