I picked up this Coleman Axis High Power LED Headlamp from Fleet Farm for thew cat tourney a few weeks ago. I love it.

It doesn’t have the red or blue colors (there is a model available on Coleman’s site that does), but it has 3 levels. And the highest kicks out at 85 lumens! Its bright enough to where your partner doesn’t need his on to look at something in the boat or what not. 6 hours on the 3 AA batteries on the highest level is pretty decent, all things considered. You aren’t going to use that level much anyway, but it is nice to know it is available when reeling in a fish, for example.

The real reason I decided to post this though was not because of those features. I am writing because apparently they are very durable.

Michelle washed the shorts finally, because they were left off to the side of the laundry pile because as you may know, I took a swim in them. They were quite dirty.

When she went to pull the clothes out she noticed a weird glow from inside the basin. Apparently she ran it through the wash. So although they are not advertised as water proof or durable, apparently they are.

Before I go, maybe you guys can help Michelle and I out. She thinks that I should make sure my pockets are empty before I put the dirty clothes in the hamper. I say checking my pockets is part of doing the laundry, its part of the process. Who is right?

I have the axis that has red and blue but I believe mine is 110 lumens.
Had it for a year and still works.
The only [censored] part about the thing is the screw on deal to hold the batteries in place broke because it’s held by a tiny piece of plastic that broke off. Threw some tape over it now and it still works.

Append: I brought the lamp out bass fishing yesterday because I knew we’d be getting off the lake when it was dark. Apparently there is a short in it. I sometimes have to tap it to turn on. Also this morning, I noticed with the lamp off and the batteries in, the bulb is glowing.

Despite the recent developments I still give it 5 stars. After all, like I said it is not marketed as water proof or ruggedized.
