    and that he did. Bank fishing at Everts with a bullhead and good company was all that was needed to land this 18 pounder.

    As a barge was approaching from down stream, Nutzy was telling me he caught his PB walleye as a barge when by. Just a few moments later, he landed this guy.

    Now when sizing up this flat keep in mind Nutzy is a 290 pound guy…he has big hands! LOL!

    Nice fish! Sitting at Everts catching a flathead…it don’t get better than that.

    I will second the barge deal. Not sure if it is just coincidence, but rarely does a barge pass where the action doesn’t seem to pick up. In fact, I’ll even take it a step further and say my superstition is that a full barge going upstream is the best. An empty barge going downstream is the worse, but still better than no barge.

    Nice fish, congratulations to Nutzy. An 18 pounder in these water conditions isn’t too shabby.

    Last year my brother Dave and I fished with a good friend on the James river and he called it the barge bite. Whenever a big boat would go by we got excited.
