One of the tagged Lake Sturgeon of the St Croix was recaptured this spring by the WI DNR at the dam in Eau Clair WI.

Anyone have a clue as to those river miles?

Not sure on that distance but I remember reading about one tagged in WI that was caught in Ohio or something. I’ll see what I can find.

    Found thru WI DNR site.

In 1994 someone caught a sturgeon on the east coast of Michigan in Saginaw Bay with a tag on it. The fish was originally tagged at Lake Winnebago, which means that this fish traveled a total of 850 miles over 16 years, navigating 14 dams, 17 locks, Lake Michigan, the Straits of Mackinac, and Lake Huron. An amazing migration!

That’s plain crazy how far they can travel. Not even sure how they get through the locks and damns. Especially with the size they can get.

give the old DNR a e-mail and ask for telemetry reports on them! the have fish that were taged in redwing and were reported years later in a river in chicogo,, think it was over 1200 miles!!
