Got in a bit of pond channel catting (wicked sticky/Sonny’s blend)this past weekend. Amidst some slow action had a couple cats on both getting snagged up on a mid-pond stump. Managed to land one. 
Also had a snapping turtle get off right at the boat…second one I’ve taken fishing with dip bait! Also saw a few deer and heard river otters splashing around making a wild commotion (when I went back down just after dark to secure my gear).
You can just make out the turtle inside the dark circle (it’s head is to the right)..swimming away. 
That’s in the center of the pond, the turtle came from the cover near the dam…
