I let Woody out at 10pm last night. I didn’t look at the thermometer, but I couldn’t help but think…what a great night to be out fishing…with the possible exception of the wind.

Anyone out enjoying the warmest night of the year?

    Looking good tonight as well!

I was thinking about trying to get out tonight, but with S winds at 30MPH, it might be a bit dicey in my little boat. Maybe some shore fishing is in order though.

I think you are about right, except 25-30MPH gusts. Maybe just play it by ear and see how it is around dark.

Water temps are at 65 degrees at 6:00 am.

I hate when I have high expectations!

I’m hoping to get my partner out on the water by 6 to tap into the channel bite first.

Didn’t go out last night but I was on the water Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Wind died just before sunset so the boat stayed perfectly still…none of that side to side action. Caught soem nice channels too…a 13 pounder topped off the two nights fishing but the others were all from 2-7 pounds. It was a gas.

Hope the wind dies down for you guys this weekend. I’m going to Mom’s for her 80th Birthday party so there won’t be any fishing in the very near future for me. Ah, but the next three weekends…reports to follow.

I’m sure you seasoned cat guys know well enough where to park butt with a south wind to catch fish
At times the wind just eliminates some good water narrowing down what you feel comfortable parked in.
The one thing I do like about the wind….not sure about MN, and not to get into an aurgument over our skeeter’s/black fly’s are bigger but… WI. has a good bug hatch going right now. The wind does help carrier them blood thirsty critters away from the boat!

I’m heading out. hard to avoid a southwind on the lake but I think it will settle down.

Its blowing here up to gusts of 20 mph, I think it will calm down by 8:00 or 9:00, glass smooth by midnight.

Got out with the nephew and his coworker last night. I got blanked, but Dave got a channel and his co-worker caught his first flat. It wasn’t huge, but enough to get him addicted I am sure. If not catching anything meant he got his first flathead, I am more than happy to have just been along for the ride.

Exactly! I was explaining to the guy we took out the other night that I am almost as excited over the little guys as the big ones. They are magical, no matter how big they are.
