Sneaky camera work, still a nice fish though!
Is this one of those pix that gets sent around yearly?
It will be. LOL!
Looks like a pretty short guy and a little ‘Al Linder extended arm photo’ technique to me.
L8R…Ken
Small guy, he’s hanging it from the line, way out towards the camera, and further evidence that it’s a very young sturg, look how sharp his plates are.
I use the opposite technique to make my fish look smaller than they really are!
Smallest 40 incher ever o.O

Wow that guy is using some REALLY thick line!!!!
You try catching a 200lb sturgeon on anything smaller! Dare ya!

That guy is smaller than Bob Bowman!
It’s easy to make 60+ inches of fish look big when your only 60 inches tall

Where are good places in MN to fish for big sturgeon?
Rainy River!
Always stretching the facts Bob.
For the largest sturgeon in MN, the place to go is Lake of the Woods/Rainy River. It has the largest population and the DNR has been netting fish over 100 lbs for around 5 years now. Check regulations on slots and catch and kill seasons. They do have an almost year round catch and release season up there.
Someplace closer (to the metro area) is the St Croix River. The season starts the first weekend in Sept and the harvest season closes the last day in Sept (1 fish over 60″ is allowed per angler per year with a $5. tag). The first two weeks of October is a catch and release season.
If you haven’t tried fishing for the “gentle giants”, it’s a must do at least once in every fisherman’s lifetime.
Any one got a suggestion on what area of the river to fish what town to stay at or what ramp to use.
