The MN in Mankato has jumped from 4.5 to over 12 feet in the last week. We fished a feeder creek in the area for bullheads this weekend, but there was so much debris in the water we couldn’t keep a clean hook for more than 5 min. Looking good for this weekend. Hopefully the rain will hold off for a night time run.

Isn’t it amazing how fishing conditions can change so dramatically over night.

It is pretty amazing how fast it can go up. Then again, I am not complaining. We were fishing water up in the trees until July last year on the Minnesota!

I was up by Cambridge last weekend and the Rum River was spilling over everywhere. The combination of the rain up north and south is going to raise the Mississippi tremendously finally.

I hope to get out tonight. It will be nice having some flow again.

Looks like all the Minnesota gauges from Jordan upstream are either topping out now or falling. Should make for a good weekend of fishing once all that crap gets flushed downstream

Don’t be afraid to try catfishing a lake when the water goes up on the river, the lakes generally get a good bite going. Crawlers can produce big dividends as the additional water and higher temps get the spawn moving along.

Funny that you say that, as it always seemed crawlers put out rather well on lakes that cats end up in. I thought I was just being superstitious!

Yes, looks like flushing time with the MN at Jordan rising 12ft from last Sat. to Thursdays predicted crest.

Even Pool 2 is predicted to rise by 5ft from last Sat.

    See Graph images:

What will this do to the BASS in Pool 2, we have a small club tourney there saturday CRR (Catch, Record & Release) only.

Carroll58, it makes them harder to catch for use as bait.

…After all this is the catfish forum.

It also makes them harder to pin down in that heavy current. If only there wasn’t a size limit on the danged things! Imagine if you could use 8-9″ smallies!?! I just have a feeling they’d be THE topshelf bait for flatties.
