I need to get better at taking pictures when they do. Can any of you picture wizards bring out the control item on my left shoulder? I’d hate to spot Steve a 32×18 this early in the season. I managed to cover up my control item with one shot and get the sun in the other. Oh well.

Nice fish, but I don’t think I can help. I’ll try tomorrow, but the control is blown out and hot with no detail it looks like.

Thanks Pug, I played with it for an hour and failed. I’ll just need to get another 3 cats for the contest. This one was a hard fighter but when I got her on board she was the most docile fish ever. Big head for the size of fish and very dense.

Nice fish Kevin. It was a bit nippy out there Saturday. I had my brother-in-law and nephew out and they got cold feet. We got 11 fish but the bite was very slow. A week ago it was nice and warm and we got 40 fish in four hours. The lake was on fire.

I thought that looked like you. I also got a cold foot on Saturday. I launched out of Gov Nelson. No piers in the water and a 10 plus blowing foot and a half rollers into the launch. Trying to do that by myself was fool hardy. I got the boat launched and it wouldn’t start cold blooded be-atch so I had to jump out to stop from going on the rocks. I got two boots full of water. Then when I tried to recover after I was done, I got 3 big waves over the transom and nearly sank my rig. It took 15 minutes to drain the water out of my boat. I should have just went over and launched at Cherokee marsh. South winds blow cold water all over the north bay and it always slows down the bite. when the sun warms the temps up 4-5 degrees the fish get aggresive but some of my biggest spring fish have come in negative conditions.

You’re right Kev, nasty weather seems to activate them lake channels. I think the stirred up waters and blowing bait to the windy side has a lot to do with it.

Sounds like you had a real adventure last week with your boat launch. I hate a wind blowing into the ramp…always makes for difficulties. Been pretty darn nice down here so far. Not too many really windy days so far…which is surprizing…but I guess this whole spring has been a surprize so far.

I’ll be up your way in a couple weeks fishing for those Mendota Giants with Jerry. It’s always fun up there. Still looking for that 25 pounder. I suppose if I ever catch one of those, I’ll be looking for a 30…just never satisfied.

Good luck in your next adventure and keep your feet dry .

I’ve seen a couple fish over 30 in 12 years here. They are very rare. All those twenty somethings from last year are a year bigger this year. One of my fish from Saturday, I didn’t see the bobber go but the medium heavy loaded up and the drag began to scream. I thought I had a giant but it was only around 8lbs. It took a lot of line out as I had the drag set for eyes.
