My First Dam Visit

I was really surprised to see all the wing dams under water near the dam on P-4 yesterday late afternoon. Sure didn’t think that water was that high.

Spent about two hours making sure all was well with the motor and other equipment.

Only one malfunction. The remote control for the Minkota trolling motor didn’t work. Figure it’s the battery as it’s been a couple years since I’ve replaced it.

Anyone know which buttons I need to push to sync the Power Drive to the remote? I know where the button is on the motor.

Water temps was 53 with the wind howling right down the Y pushing the boat up stream. Didn’t even wet the line.

Marked some good size bumps on the bottom with the StructureScan. I’m thinking those spots (wintering holes)will be a great spot to drop a chunk of cut bait and a treble filled with Sudden Impact fiber bait.

So…who’s headed out this weekend for some wild whiskered fun?

I might head out Sunday, If I do it’ll be on the MN. I’ve heard several good reports of Flatheads being caught already over there. Cutbait will be the ticket….no suprises there….

There is a small button on the side of the trolling motor by where the co-pilot is installed.
Push that and hold until you continuous hear a beeps then I beleive you push a button on the remote and hold it until you hear 4 beeps. After that, try your remote.
No rpomises BK, I’m going from memory here. Haven’t had once since the I-Pilkots came out.
    Good luck

Hey Brian go anchor right above the hole at the vermillion and save the 11″ saugers from the 3/4 ounce jigs knocking them out for eagle bait! I heard they were picking on your whiskered friends!

I putted past there yesterday. The StructureScan showed a HUGE number of fish there and I figured they were those eating size channels.

With the wind blowing like it was, I thought there’s some summer left yet and I don’t need to sit out in that stuff.

I’ll be out on Lake Mendota tomorrow (Sat.) Hope the channel cats are still feeding like they were last Saturday. My boat got 450 lbs of channels in 4 hours. (40 fish)It was a lot of fun. I took out a father and his 10 year old son. The boy fought the majority of the fish and by about 11:00 AM he was ready to quit. Warn out.
