Do you think we will see an early spawn for the kitty cats? At times I think we will, but then we get a cold snap of a day like today! What do you think?

I’ll take a completely uneducated stab and say some will be a little early. I think the biggest impact will be that maybe the spawning is spread out over a longer period of time, meaning the fishing won’t shut down as bad like normal.

It seemed like the MN down by Mankato was really warm for this time of year. I bet it is up around 55+ degrees. They are biting aggresively, so they may be on the good pre-spawn bite already.

Sorry, I was referring to channels only. There have been some reports of smaller flats hitting bullies in the past couple weeks further downstream though..

I think the spawn is so far away that it is the last thing to think about right now. We are about to enter the pre-spawn period and we should have a nice long one. This is going to be a great spring – nice weather and stable water levels. After last year I am really looking forward to this year’s spring bite.

X2 I’m with Steve on this one. I have a sneaky suspicion mother nature can fool man easier than a fish.

Here the spawn goes with the water temps. I wasn’t able to get out this weekend but I’m predicting a spawn almost a month earlier than normal on the chain.

The females I’ve been butchering are at least a month and a half away yet and I’m 2 to 300 miles south of you guys.

You need to retype that Herb. Forgot “The 15 pound females I’ve been butchering…”

Smokers are the largest I’ll keep. Meaning nothing over 6 or 7 pounds.
