Had some fun down in the gulf last week. Caught a few of these guys!

Most of them we just shake off at boatside, but wanted one for the camera!!

    New Avatar!!

I thought sail cat fishing was a hoot, but after our guide saw me catch three, he lightened up the sinker.

    I was PO’ed.

Eric, I didn’t know they had walleyes down there. That’s the only time I’ve seen someone hold their nose.

We didn’t get into any of the targeted species yesterday. But we did get several of the cats and 3 of these things!!

We also saw a large shark make an attack on some prey. About 5-6′ of the shark tail pointing straight up, thrashing something soundly in the bay. Water flying everywhere. We waited for 1-2 minutes to see if it might have been a dolphin doing the attack, but one never surfaced. Had to have been a shark!!

90% in Estero Bay. The trout in my other post were up near Sanibel.

Be careful holding those cats. an Aquaintance spent the night in the hospital after getting horned by one of those.

I got jabbed in the thumb by one of those sail cats last August, and let me tell you, it throbbed for two days (after the swelling went down)

Our guide wouldn’t let me take them off the hook. I thought he was just looking for a bigger tip!

I was fishing with my father in-law but if anyone wants the names of some really good in-shore (or offshore for that matter) guides down there, let me know. I met two of the in-shore guys and the place they work out of, also has off-shore boats and captains.

    Pm me for details.
