So its Friday and the water temps are coming up. What are everyones plan for chasing Mr. Whiskers this weekend?

I plan on hitting the Minnesota in the greater Mankato/New Ulm area to try to get the first channel cats of the year.

Mike and I are hitting the Dresbach dam hoping to boat a few whiskered critters. I’m looking forward to a day without 30mph winds

I went home for lunch from work, got the kayak loaded on the car and the necessaries onboard… I’ll be poofing from work in about an hour and heading up to the Scandia area and hopping on the Croix. (After picking up some chicken liver and suckers.)

Hopefully we both strike it lucky tonight!

Heading down to the resort for fun and frolics seeing people that I haven’t seen for over a year.

In between that, I’m trying to figure out how to get on the water between Tuesday (trailer tire change day) and Friday (1st customer of the year day).

No fishing for me this weekend, but the gears are smoking to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

You guys have fun! I’ll be waiting here for the reports

    Flooring for me…

But I am off to Ganders to pick up a 9 foot spinning rod tonight, least I’ll have a fishing pole near me, and the beer in the garage fridge is cold.

Have fun all and be safe.

Still waiting on the kitties tho

Tally for the night: 2 suckers, 2 mudpuppies, 1 sturgeon, 1 burbot

No cats, but first sturg and burbot ever so I’m happy

I’ll do like I usually do, since I don’t live far from the sippi I’ll go down for an hour or so if they aren’t bitten head on home. If they are I stay longer.
The key to my fishing success is not burning myself out with long outings when they’re not biting so I have the motivation to go the next day.

When it comes to flatheads I’ll sit out there for days until I find what I’m lookin for

Well, IDOer Swollen Goat and I got out on the Minnesota yesterday from about 1PM to 7:30PM. We ended up with 8 channel cats, and 2 bonus shovelnose sturgeon. Was a great day to be out on the water.

Channel cats came exclusively on Sonny’s stink bait, though we had some bites on cutbait and liver. The shovelnos both came on crawlers.

We managed to find about 8 more each the following day in 12-16 FOW. A few bites on cut bait, but most were coming in on Sonny’s and crawlers.

Pool 8 treated Mike and I well on Saturday. Cut sucker produced bigger fish but the crawler rods were more active.
