Warm weather affect on Sturgeon Excursion?

    Any thoughts on how this warm weather will affect the bite/migration of the sturgeon this year?

    There is a really big population of resident rainy river sturgeon that can be fished within season, no need to worry about the big run, but I would imagine that with the warmer weather the sturgeon run will be sooner. I have had really good days on accident for sturgeon while fishing for walleyes during the walleye run, I would imagine that these are the resident Rainy River fish. If you fish up river from the gap you can have some really good fishing almost all by yourself. Something to think about with this warmer weather.

    It would be nice to have a couple of days of decent weather regardless of how the bite goes. Last year was a bummer, heading home ahead of the snow.

    Jeez I’m getting anxious to get back up there!

    I predict….

    Ice out will be two to three weeks earlier than “normal”.

    I predict….

    The “run” will happen earlier then it has in the past.

    I know what Cal stated above is true and many many fish are caught after ice out and the muck from the Forks has cleared out.

    It’s going to be a banner Sturgeon year because of the winter that wasn’t!
