I’ve just laid my slimy mits on the New I-CAT 7’6″ MH Carbon Fiber Rod from Team Catfish!

Jeff Williams hit a home run for all of you graphite folks out there!

With a hook keeper that could be a line GUIDE on many of the “cat rods” on the market.

The I Touch reel seat that takes full advantage of the sensitivity of the carbon fiber bringing the “feel” directly to your fingers!

Stainless Steel guides and the weight that only carbon fiber or graphite can give.

In fact, I’m going to take a good look at this rod for the Sturgeon Excursion!

The first photo shows a 10/0 Team Catfish Super J AND a Gamakatsu 10/0 in the hook keeper!

The second photo is showing the I-Touch reel seat.

This is truly a cat fishing rod made by cat fishermen for cat fishermen!

    Touch’em all Jeff Williams!

The I-Cat will be arriving soon at 4 Seasons Sports Shop in Red Wing, MN and I’ll have one at my camper this weekend to touch and feel.

Why do you have a walleye hook hanging on your new Kitty cat rod BK

So many ways to go with this one. Its almost like there are so many things that I can’t think of anything, my mind is just on overload. I am thinking a Jim reference or maybe candy from a stranger in a van or a sausage reference…

But then why muddy up a good post about a bad arse looking rod. Graphite you say? One piece?

Carbon Fiber. Same stuff arrows are made from I hear.

Yes, one piece. I know with longer rods it makes two pieces practical, but having a two piece graphite or carbon fiber rod doesn’t help the sensitivity.

I figured I would throw you a bone for retrieval Pug, but you’re just like Woody, run over, pick it up and then drop it before he brings it back.

Everyone has different tastes in rods just like spinning or bait casting, however if I didn’t know better I would thing Team Catfish made this rod directly from my specs for me.

How does the rod compare weight wise to one of the St. Croix cat rods (discontinued) or musky rods of comparable length/power?

I’ll be honest… I’ve never heard of carbon fiber being used in fishing rod construction so thats a new one for me.

    Tell us more Brian.

The finest catfishing rods and blanks on the planet are now only available through Team Catfish. The HIGH STANDARD Carbon Rod Co. and Jeff Williams founder of Team Catfish Tackle Company have designed these blanks and rods just for the Team Catfish brand. No other manufacturer in the world has access to these custom carbon blanks. These carbon blanks are built in America by HIGH STANDARD Carbon Rod Company and only sold as a HIGH STANDARD rod or Team Catfish iCat.

Why are these rods better (and more expensive)?

The American manufacturer of these rods and blanks has developed a complicated proprietary carbon fiber wrapping method that’s creates rods that feed like and preform like carbon arrow hunting shafts. This revolutionary new process allows HIGH STANDARD Rod Co. to create the lightest and strongest rod that you have ever had your hands on. Also, these carbon blanks are only assembled with the purest carbon fiber material available anywhere in the world. Pound for pound this ultra premium carbon material is second to none. When you combine the best materials with space age blank building techniques you get the best of the best, we guarantee it.

To start in 2012 we will have 3 iCat models available exclusively through Team Catfish. They are a 7-6 Heavy action casting and spinning and a 7ft MH Casting.

Some of the key features of these HIGH STANDARD Carbon Rods include:

    1) The durability of our carbon blanks is unrivaled. HIGH STANDARD blanks are far superior to any graphite or boron rod that we tested against.

    2) The sensitivity of the HIGH STANDARD carbon blank is unbelievable. Its superior to any of the top brands of high end graphite blanks we tested against regardless of the price.

    3) All models have stainless steel eyes.

    4) Casting model has an exposed graphite blank touch reel seat.

    5) Super heavy duty stainless hook keepers.

    6) Actions designed by professionals for catfishing situations.

    6) Extremely durable/no maintenance high density eva foam handles will out last and and out perform cork handles. Cork does not telegraph vibrations nearly as well as the high density eva.

    8) Proudly made in America.

    9) HIGH STANDARD 3 year bumper to bumper warranty and the lifetime half price replacement warranties are unrivaled in the catfishing world.

    10) Stainless hood over graphite reel seat band.

This heavy action iCat model is rated to handle sinkers sizes from 1 to 8 oz’s. The 7-6 H casting model has 8 stainless guides plus the tip. The 7-6 H spinning rod has 7 stainless guides plus the tip.

I’ve compared this rod next to my St Croix’s and it’s lighter, but I didn’t put it on a scale. LOL!

Seriously pictures and words can’t do this rod justice.

For the next two weekends, I’ll be making this rod available for a “try before you buy” test on Pool 4. Contact me via pm for availability.

Heck of an attention span I have, eh?

Sure 2 pieces are practical, but you lose so much.

Agree with Pug on the one piece rod. I use a few two piece rods for traveling, but definitely think one piece is the way to go.

No matter how well designed, two piece rods have an inherent weak spot. I think the ‘feel’ is better too.

Still too rich for my blood, but one of my favorite cat rods is a 7′ MH one piece graphite rod with the eva foam grip…

    Looks quite nice indeed!!!
