Palolo, BrianK’s got some good underwater winter videos of catfish and others here on the site. Do a search or ask him and he’ll point the way, he does have good videos, pretty intertaining, you won’t believe how clear the Mississippi is in winter. I just looked at your video, the cart befor the horse, looks like one of his.

Question so did they wake up or no bites that day

No bites. One halfhearted look from a big guy towards the end of the video, but he looked more annoyed than interested.

Like the guy in the comments section said, “everyone knows flatheads like live bait”. So Jesse and I video taped a live sucker in front of and between to sleeping flats. No interest.

I think the first comment on that video was “they don’t like blue jig heads”. LOL!

    Thanks for posting Palolo!

Now that I think about it, we tossed that bait back behind the flats and hooked into a nice channel cat that day.

    So we did get bite.

What Brian and Jesse won’t tell you is that they made me strip down to my whitey tighties and film those fish. Then I found out no one has to hold the camera.

I know, weird, huh? Even weirder, Brian thinks it is foreplay. To be clear, I know this because his FW told me. Or was it Jim?

Fantastic video! I heard they only hit on large jigs fished aggresively while drifting down river! No wonder you didn’t get any action on film!

Moose, I’ve been harassing Steve Hoffman with my videos for a couple years now.

In-Fish has changed their stance on winter flat fishing from what it was in the ’70’s through the ’90’s. That’s going to be very evident in the late April In-Fish TV show.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a camera over a pile of wintering cats for a couple months instead of a few moments?

I hope they have changed their stance because that was one of the most controversial topics they have ever covered. I know they are trying to sell product and you always try to keep things fresh with new spins, but in my eyes that crossed the line.

I don’t know how big of an issue it is and how many guys do it, but when word gets out about something like that the population becomes so sucseptible.

When I first read Frosty Flatheads, I emailed In-Fish asking them how they could promote that. They did have a little blurb in there about over harvest.

Then I met John, the fella that took them out. Great guy. I haven’t seen him around for a few years now.

I have the video Big Catfish Safari that contains the video portion of Frosty Flatheads. After watching the video several (hundred) times, I located the spot on the spot where it was filmed.

I’ll post a link to the video in a minute or two.

Now if you’ll notice there’s one cat moving around trying to reposition himself.

This and other flats I’ve caught on video that have moved in the winter makes me say “they might eat sometime during the winter months”. But for all the cats I’ve captured on video, I’ve only witnessed a few move..and they didn’t look like they move to eat, they moved to sleep.

While I agree they are dormant and rarely bite in the winter, I will also say that in the summer, a majority of the day they are dormant as well. The difference is, pre-spawn especially, they eat a lot of prey in the warm months. In the winter they probably can live at least a month off of one meal.

Look like we’re having some decent temps this upcoming week so I plan to get out and give the sudden impact a try ordering sinker slidez and 12oz SI with fiber comes with deadly red hooks I think that’s a good starter kit.?
