No monsters yet, but the bite has been steady this spring. This 26″ hit stink bait in about 12 fow.

I don’t know my Catfish very well, but this one hit a crankbait on Lake Pepin. Any idea on a weight?

I caught my first ever catfish this weekend fishing the Crow River. Also, I thought I would post a couple pictures of some cats my brother caught fishing at the Lockport Dam up in Canada. They caught serveral more this size and what was considered a slow day. His guide said his guide trips typically bring over 50 fish in the boat in one outing.

Soon, you too will be addicted to cattin, and making trips to Lockport and beyond to do it.

I’ve been out ten times so far this spring and so far these two channel cats are the biggest ones we’ve got in my boat. One was 22 lbs. 3 oz. and the other one was 22 lbs. 5 oz. Both put up great fights. I’ve taken a lot of people out with me and have just had a great time helping these guys have the fishing trip of a lifetime.

I wish we had a jaw-drop emoticon here. HOLY COW… err, well, HOLY PIG!

Those are freaking hogs, dude… bigtime congrats!

So it’s not too often you see someone post a picture of a fiddler caught on hook-and-line, so I figured I’d put my hat in the ring for the “smallest channel cat of the season” award. She went a full 7″ with a 3.5″ girth. I estimate her weight at a whopping 7 oz.

Caught in an undisclosed location on a 10/0 Gamkatsu circle… on a 20# Berkeley Crystal leader.

My 4/0 Gammie kept getting stripped of the worms I had along for bait, so I grabbed a 10/0 and a foot of 20# Crystal out of the truck and tossed out a worm. No more than 2 minutes later I had a 6″ sheephead. Cast back out and within another 3 minutes I had this little guy.

Needless to say I’m going back there at night to check out the local predatory fish population.

Here’s a 24-25″er I caught on the Minnesota on Saturday. Absolutely crushed some Secret 7, almost yanking the rod outta the holder. First fish ever in my new boat!

Kinda mushy stomach, I think it had spawned recently.

Geez, I hope you bought her dinner before felling up her stomach.

Not the best pics, but night photos with a phone (even an iPhone) plus an inexperienced camera operator and… well, yanno…

Anyway, this was the only cat of the night, but he went 27×15 for 7#14. Aggressive, hit so hard he took four teeth off the levelwind cog in my Abu 7000C3 and almost pulled the whole thing into the river.

And there were at least 4 other similar runs. One major hookup, but my no-roll got hung up between 2 rocks. By the time I managed to pull loose of the snag the fish was gone.

It was really a fun night.
