Well, I hope he catches sturgeon but stays a virgin. Those bar flies at the Wigwam are scary

What if you were to bus it up to The Twin Cities, that might make it easier for you to hook up with a ride.

Are you looking for just a ride up or do you need an open seat in the boat as well? We have room for one for a ride up but unfortunately no open seats in the boat.

Preorder your Night Crawlers from 4Seasons Sports in Red Wing, MN prior to April 13th for the price of $50 per flat!

These are plump, juicy crawlers that the Sturgeon of 4 Mile Bay and the Rainy River LOVE! (Rumor has it the work well for walleyes in your local area as well!)

While your there pick up some tips from Mr. Sturgeon himself, Chris Winchester!

Its about as easy as going fishing Chris if you dont find a seat with someone. No magic depth to try and set up on, No fancy lures or presentation. Its just drop the anchor and fish for the most part. The biggest prep my boat sees is pulling all the chairs out and installing lawn chairs so we can be comfortable with long periods of kicking back and shooting the BS.

I knew I had this post marked somewhere.

From the thread that started the Sturgeon Excursion…

    Quote:

I just got home form my annual sturgeon excursion on the rAiny river. In three days we landed 75 sturgeon for five guys. Several of these fish were between 50 and 65 inches. I would advice anyone who gets a chance to go to get up there in the next two weeks. All of our fishing was done in four mile. If you need more specifics pm me and I will give you some ideas. We stayed at the wigwam. Chris Winchester

Who would have guessed that from this post, so many people would enjoy the “sturgeon dance”?

I think Bill is the only one that’s made it every year since I’ve been going.

By Bill are you referring to Bowfin Bill Patton? Is he still in here? If so, I hope he says hello soon before I start telling stories. Many nights in cheap hotels with Bill and his tighty whities.

I don’t think Bowfin Bill is a member here, I could be wrong. But I know he reads the forums.

I’m thinking I’m going to stay clear of any questions. The image in my minds eye right now is a bit disturbing. I mean he’s not exactly a Ralph Wiggims.

Funny how just a couple excursions ago people were wondering if there would still be ice on the river when they got up there. I believe they got a healthy dose of snow too.

This year the way things are going, people will be packing shorts and swimwear.

I have buddies that fish the rainy each year… And I may have to jump on the band wagon, I love fishing for the biggest fish in the lake and everyone rips on me for it, even when I was younger I always bought line so thick I couldn’t even cast it and my pole looked like a broom stick! I am gonna get some guys together and I think I will be making this trip! Anyone know if theres any rooms left, and what does a guy need to bring? Beer, Big Poles, treble hooks, and worms???

Chris, As I stated last night I would be willing to take the crawlers up to the S.E. People can let me know if they need them picked up and I can transport them. I will be up to the river about 1:00 Thursday the 19th.

fwiw I have 4 of the smaller Styrofoam worm storage boxes, night crawler food and bedding left over from the flat of night crawler and unplugged refrigerator disaster.

Somebody want to borrow them they can keep the food and bedding, for that matter not so sure I need 4 boxes either, maybe get a couple back to me.

Stuff is pretty cheap so if ya don’t live near the MSP airport it may not be worth driving over to borrow.

I was wondering the same thing!! I think that would be great, sure is nice to meet the person behind the keyboard! You guys may be surprised that I’m a 25 year old female model from Australia that came here to learn the art of lap dancing…

    Or I’m not…

From what I have heard it sounds like there is not an official GTG planned for this year so I am setting a date for an UNOFFICIAL GTG at Wigwam on Friday night. Reply here or PM me with your thoughts on what time would work best for everyone.
