From February 09…if there’s open water…there’s channel cats!

Nice! How does the stink bait hold up in colder water conditions? I have only used Sonny’s, and it is really hard to work with when cold.

This year winter instead of leaving the poles at home while taping, we’ll be hauling rods, Secret 7 and Sudden Impact Fiber bait from Team Catfish.

Keeping the bait in-doors over night, then using a insulated cooler should keep the bait softer than out in the cold temps of MN/WI on the Mississippi River.

From last year. I’m thinking my flathead size sucker was a little too large for these guys. LOL!

At least post a decent fish for spring…Here is a Sonnys fish from 42 degree water. I find it is important in spring to throw multiple kinds of bait at them and let them tell you what they want. Jonas is still smiling about that one. If you can find warmer water, even one degree will stack fish. I also keep my dead shiners from tipup fishing and they clean them up nicely in spring.

Cool videos! Nice to see Denny make an appearance. I’ve fished with him more than a handful of times.

I have heard of some phenominal channel cat catches during the cold water months, but have never really targeted them. Maybe something to consider in the future.
