At the request of Mr BK, here is a pic from another post. Check out this chunky channel cat. She bit a 1/8th oz hairjig in 1-2 foot of water near a current seam. Great fight on light walleye gear. Made for a fun day on the water!

That is a beast and half. Quickest way to ruin walleye gear is to use it for big channel cats.

Freaky looking fish when they get that old and big. Here is another one from Saturday. Now this one I thought was a pig walleye! Heartbreaker.

BK, leave my profile pic alone and I’ll stay out of the cat forum for at least another year. Deal?

Can’t tell a fighting fish from a panfish and you want to leave for a year? You should come down to madtown. The channel cats here average about that size and I could drop you off in a good neighborhood for good measure.

To borrow a term from a friend, “sumo!”.

Carefull, its cats like those that can change any walleye guy into a cat guy.

You got an open seat sometime to go catting Jon?

People are better at accidentally catching fish than I am at catching fish on purpose.

Very nice channel Jon, especially for a pole. How big, 14 to 15lbs? Its close to that and chunky.

I’m thinking closer to 20#, but then again, I am not good at eyeballing weights, lengths and distances.

Jon sent me an inlarged picture and it looks between 17 and 20lbs, its easier to see its weight with a larger picture, A very nice channel forsure.

I said 17 because it looks like the flesh is very solid from swimming and 20 because it depends on how many 1 0z. sinkers Jon has fed it, lol!, just kidding Jon.
