Anyone heading out on the lower St croix sturgeon fishing this weekend? I’m hoping to get into some bigger fish then I have been getting. I’d like to take my boat out there but after going out of bayport two weekends ago for a friends wedding I know taking my boat is not a smart choice.

I’m curious? Why are you concerned about taking your own boat out. That stretch of water is pretty tame. If you are worried about all the talk about big boats you are being a bit over cautious IMO.

I agree with Steve. ‘ve seen the tuna boat traffic in Oct is MUCH less than mid Sept. You’ll still have some on a nice day, but it will certainly be less than you experienced a few weeks ago.

I see guys in little jon boats on the river quite a bit. I don’t think there are many boats that “can’t handle” the St Croix.

For the few tuna boats that where out two Sundays ago in the rain I wouldn’t of taken my boat out. I’ve had it out in larger waves i know if any of the tunas where close I’d be taking on water. Flat bottom jobs with jets don’t do very well in any kind of waves.

If I don’t fish the P2 tourney, I may head out Saturday night. Shoot me a PM with your cell. I could call early in the day Saturday to let you know.

Anyone going out Friday night that’s looking to fill a seat? I’m heading out early Saturday morning up river to camp and fish with a few guys but would like to try down river from where I normally go.

Sorry d…I tried to make it work. Booked to the end of the season and after I ruined my tire, found out I’m replacing my wheel bearings tomorrow.
