I’ll be out all three nights sniffing around the the giant of the St Croix.

Anyone else going out this weekend?

I’m guessing we’ll be in the Bayport area at sometime each night otherwise we’ll be snooping around other holes further south.

Wave if you see a Green Lund with the driver wearing his lucky yellow Float Tech PFD! (no, don’t wave your middle finger pug)

Oh I do believe I’ll be in the parade this weekend on one of the floats practicing my wave with some guy in yellow. Excited to go after my first ever sturgeon!

Yellow is such a bright target.

I’m thinking the FW and I will be grabbing a burger at the Bungalow about 4:30 on Saturday.

Anyone is welcome to stop, share a seat and ask her how she puts up with me.

PS Sturgeon do not bite on live sunfish.

I think I will be stopping out Sunday night. I’m bringing the wife along for her first shot at a big one. I will be in a black Tracker.

Dave wants to get out Saturday. We’d stop by the Bungalow, but I only request you stop insinuating that your friend with the ___ tie and I would get along.

Sometimes I think it would be easier. But when I think about it a little more, I realize a dude would mean less time fishing. Not cool.

I would also like to mention even though the boat traffic has died dwn, please still be careful. there are still some idiots out there.

I had a big cabin cruiser 35’plus footer come within 20′ of me on plane. at first the driver apparently didn’t notice nor cared that i was there as he was headed right towards me. even though i was shinning him with my 3million candle-watt spot light and honked my horn. he finally turned away at the last minute and waved. i waved back as well but it wasn’t a friendly gesture plus a few choice words. thinking back i should’ve tried to get the name or number of the boat, but in the heat of the moment i failed to think about it.

    Again,
    please be safe out there

You can say that again I’ve been good, Phil. We just had a baby, so life has been hectic, but we’re enjoying the little guy

How long until you think you’ll be able to get out on the water?

I can definitely empathize with you. I’ve got a 10 day old fisherman at my house now and I’m just hoping to sneak out one or two more times before sturgeon closes.

Hunting season, fishing season, rugby season. . I really need to work on my timing the next time my wife has “the urge.”

I think I have resigned myself to winterizing the boat. I just don’t see myself getting out Oh well, small price to pay for that little miracle! Before I know it, he’ll be joining me

Not fantastic fishing yesterday but managed about 10 fish. Biggest was 45″. The wind picked up pretty good after about 10am and the bite slowed considerably. Where do these fish go when the wind picks up?

    How did everyone else do?

    Glad you got out dbright!

Tried starting the motor Saturday night and all I ended up with was dim lights. The battery died.

The cool thing was another angler was leaving at the same time, saw the lights dim and circled back to ensure all was ok.

i had the same thing happen to me friday nite. luckily, i had a pair of jumper cables n just jump it from my Tmotor batteries. come to think of it, imma rewired my lights to run off my tmotor batteries, cz they are bigger then my startin battery.

i decided to fish a new spot friday night. caught 3 sturg’s n a channel. headed into camp about 11pm, woke up n fished by 7am sat morning. tried the discharged for a bit with only 1 fish, so i tried another new spot that looked fishy.
we ended up with 10 biggest was 45″, a couple of channels many missed bites, darn sheepies probably and i lost a biggun. never saw it but it was one of the strongest fish ive ever tangled with and just went ballistic. it schooled me and finally broke off.

So if anyone catches a biggun with #50pp main line, #50mono leader and a 4/0 gama circle, plz return the fish. lol

All in all, it was a good fishing/campin trip

Where does a Guy camp on the lower St croix? I’ve got two sturgeon virgins coming down from St cloud to try there luck. I’ve been fishing a ways up river and haven’t caught any of size. Where both running Jon’s with jets so im hoping there some fishing not to far from some camping.
