Fall cat bite on MN river

    Hey all,
I just picked up a river boat and live minutes from MN river in Bloomington, wondering if anyone has any info on the fall bite around shakopee, savage, etc. I have been out a couple times in the last couple years but only around the 169 bridge due to a boat that won’t run shallow waters. Now that I can go shallow looking to try waters more west and my daughter is anxious to see her first catfish. Do cats put the feedbag on in the fall? Do they like snags or should I be looking for deep holes.

Seems to the river isn’t dredged that far west, I am use to fishing Mississippi and Croix and have been passenger on almost all trips so any help would be greatly appreciated.

No luck around the bridge? My nephew had a couple hard bites within 10 minutes by the 169 bridge. His line snapped and my cutbait impaled itself and pulled out of the fishes mouth.

I don’t know how far upstream you want to go, but the bite seems to have picked up for flatheads down in the Mankato area. We’ve been fishing transition water where it goes from shallow to a deep drop off.

    Best of luck to ya!

I haven’t made it as far west as the 169 bridge, I am hoping to fish from there west. Is it a typical night bite or can you coax them in to biting during the early evening?

I would just fish the stretch you’re on or nearest to for channel cats. They bite pretty much all the time and are easy to catch with cutbait.

Haven’t caught a cat on the MN since the water went down
