It’s going to be nuts during the day. Bright colored clothing and watching where you anchor is recommended, not to mention always wearing your PFD.
If your planning on fishing a narrows, think of the other vessels that will need to get around you. Not only the tuna boats but the big boys like the Afton Princess ect.
Last year there was a fisherman anchored in the upstream portion of Afton and I watched a commercial cruise ship try to make it over Catfish Bar. I’m sure the Capitan didn’t want to bother the fisherman, but he didn’t make it over the bar and ended up tooting his horn to make it through the channel safely.
At night, keep all navagation lights on and your spotlight handy. Many times when anchoring at night your lights will blend in with the city lights behind you and other boaters may not see you.
It’s up to all on board to watch for other vessels approaching.
Everything I pointed out above is good for all lakes and rivers, however the Croix is a beautiful river and attracts many, many boaters with varying experience levels from all over the area.
Paint ball guns aren’t a bad idea either.
