got out on the st croix saturday night and had a hard time gettin bullheads all week for some reason so i had to grab some suckers however i did have one good 9 inch bully. the river was nice and low just how i like it to find them big gals.
had one good run around 9 o clock on a sucker but he missed the hook. at exactly 10 o clock my rod holder made a huge thunk and drag started peeling so i picked it up engaged the reel and this 48×30 beast almost pulled me out the back of the boat. he also loosed up some screws on my record 60 which made landing him a little interesting as well.
on the conversion charts he goes 54.2 so i guess i finally joined that club. he was the only fish of the night and he was caught on the bullhead, wish i would have had more bullys

Thanks guys I’m gonna be grinning from ear to ear for awhile.
Hopefully this is a sign of goods things to come for the st croix in September and October because it has been tough out there but persistence pays off I guess

Itwas in a newly formed hole the spot used to be about 9 feet but a new log jam dug a 24 ft hole on the front side of it.

    That’s where he was caught

Nice – it’s great to have a new spot pay off like that. Once you’ve gotten a 50+ out of a spot, it gets hard not to visit that spot a lot

Yeah it will definitely be my go to spot for awhile now.

It’s kind of funny to see the progression of the day where I made the post earlier in the day panicking about finding bullheads but it turned out I only needed one good one.
I did get some good info through pm on where to find bullheads that day but just didn’t have the te to visit them spots prior to heading to the croix, but I do appreciate the help I got from them fine gentleman
