We started out around 10 this morning and headed up to the dam. The rollers are still open as they have been for most of the spring and summer.

Since there were a few walleye guys/gal up there, we figured we would shoot south and try to drum up some business there.

I brought suckers, crawler, Sudden Impact fiber bait and Secret 7 along for the arsenal. Once anchored, I loaded up half a tube of Secret 7 on the FW’s fav pink rod and moved to put a crawler on the next hook. Never happened! She had a fish on like I cast the bait into his waiting mouth!

Since that worked well, the second rod became Secret 7 too. Anyone need some crawlers?

We has some nibblers but the two rods kept Deb reeling in fish and me filling tubes. Pretty darn good action for the first stop of the day.

Deb allowed me to catch one fish. Too bad for her that it was the days largest at 10 pounds. (I get to rub that in for a bit )

Everything was going along fine until it came to boat loading time at 2:30.

I had the boat half way on the trailer and Deb to a step on the wet ramp and down she when HARD! After changing her duck weed covered clothing we found a number of bruises. Too bad they don’t heal as fast as her pride does.

Thanks for helping out MT! It was appreciated!

hey Brian, can I ask what tube you use for dips?

And do you use a tube/furry thing for the SI or just a straight treble?

I’m not a big fan of the Furry Thang, it seems too stiff to me but I know others that just love it.

I’m using 1/2 of the Dead Red Tubes from Team Catfish with their 3/0 Double Action hooks.

Generally I use the treble with a very small piece of tube glued on to it (to make it legal in MN) for Sudden Impact.

PS if your still having trouble with your Secret 7 sticking, I would recommend sending it back. Jeff will take care of you.

Thanks! I rigged up a rod with half a tube on a circle, I think it might help with them damn fiddlers that cant seem to eat the whole tube.

I’m putting together an order for some dead reds, sudden impact, and some double action hooks.. we’ll see how it does on these little P15 channels.

Man my reputation is gone! I’m sporting a slight sunburn!!

The things a guy does for their Favorite Wife.

We spent the first hour of the day talking with Mr. and Ms Trumar at the picnic table while we watched the fog burn off the river. The front yard view as pretty awesome this morning.

We were on them again today without the cloud cover of yesterday. Although today, not only did I get my rod in the water after hers, but I had the first fish to the boat.

I was poking fun at Deb. If we didn’t have a bite in 5 minutes she was talking about moving to a new spot. Geeze woman! Give it some time!!

It became too hot without a breeze and we took a boat ride down to the head of the lake. Fished a couple spots on the way down, but if we weren’t in a no wake zone it was way too rocky…more so with the HUGE bruise from the FW’s fall yesterday. She handles pain much better than the average person and she’s a hurting unit today.

We took the back channel back to Everts stopping in Goose Lake to see a few party boats and a few fishing in the “hole”. With the high water navigation was not a problem although I did spot a few “cannons” just under the surface.

It was great to have a relaxing weekend with the FW and the boys…now it’s time to get the boat ready for next weekends trips and tomorrows real world.

A vacationer came in with a report of boating a 34 pound flathead last night. Pails of channel cat left overs in the fish cleaning house over the last few days. The guys I’ve talked to said the walleye bite has been tough on this end of P4. Although guide Captain Marty Hahn has been having good success from the reports I hear.

Photo is of Deb’s first rod bender this morning.

Here is a couple pictures of our pool 4 one night stand.

We slept in the bottom of the boat for 4 hours

Around 3am we got into a real good channel cat bite.
