New perspective on some favorite fishing spots…

Was heading out earlier this week for a meeting up in northern CA and snapped a few quick pics on our westbound flight of some favorite fishing spots. The orientation on these is south is at the top of the pictures. (Sorry about the quality, was reaching over a sleeping passenger from my middle seat to get the pictures…)

    Any guesses?

I’ve fished the first area pictured quite a lot, and the last two are of the same general area. (Those might seem familiar to some of the Iowa contingency…)

Missouri River along IA/NE or IA/MO border? Last guess would be the Rock River in IL.

I thought he wanted us to guess where he fishes based on the view.

    Rules… Rules?!?

Some of you are actually pretty close…The first picture showing the engine that’s only about 10 minutes after take off…Route 20 isn’t in the picture, the pictured area is a little further downstream on the Fox (mostly the long pool above St Charles, IL to be exact).

Last two pics… that’s not the Rock (can you see the barges?) I’ve never fished the Missouri…so it must be the Mississippi. That’s near Andalusia, IL just below Quad Cities. Middle section of pool 16. Sometimes there’s pretty good landmarks to help identify these things…The confluence of the Rock and Mississippi just S. Quad Cities would be just to the left of the pictured area.

Although I didn’t snap any pictures, I was seeing some of the lower Wisconsin stretch (near the Wisconsin river) down towards maybe Galena on the way back. Some nice looking water up there too!

My computer monitor is really dark and I can’t see any barges…that and the sun was in my eyes.

So the rumors are true then!

The world does not stop at the end of P4? Who would have thunk?

Thanks for sharing Shawn, I’m going to look a little better when I get home.

I would love to see the Wisconsin/Mississippi confluence from that height. Must have been great.

My guess was Andalussia Island but I see I was a week late on this one.
